The Stoic

The Stoic moves through a stripped landscape of heat, wind, sand, and gathering weather. A solitary traveler crosses the desert; an elder sits beneath an ancient tree and lets sand pass through his fingers. The film treats time and adversity as forces that cannot be commanded, only met.

A Stoic is not someone without emotion. Stoicism asks a person to distinguish between what can be governed—judgment, choice, and conduct—and what cannot: fortune, loss, weather, time, and death. Calm is not passivity. It is the discipline of meeting what happens without surrendering one’s character.

Green River Fossil Company — Trade Show Film

Made for Green River Fossil Company as a trade-show film, this piece follows fossil-rich limestone from the company’s private quarry in southwestern Wyoming through preparation and into finished work. It presents museum-quality Early Eocene fossils—approximately 50 million years old—as wall murals, tables, countertops, tiles, furniture, and custom architectural interiors, each quarried and prepared by hand.

The film moves between the quarry, the preparation process, close views of fossil fish and other specimens, and completed residential installations. It shows how natural history becomes functional art and design without losing the geological record held in the stone.
