Categorization is the trapdoor

We survive by categorizing.

We destroy by believing the categories.

Primitive / advanced

Human / animal

Civilized / savage

Us / them

True / false

Once a category hardens, thinking stops.

And every collapse in history begins with certainty.

Writing, data, archives, science—these store information, not judgment.

Wisdom requires:

slowness,

humility,

restraint,

contradiction,

lived integration.

Those don’t scale well.

So each generation inherits tools without inheriting maturity.

Children with weapons.

Apes with algorithms.

Godlike reach, toddler ethics.

We are not stupid individually.

We are collectively not aware.

And awareness is the only thing that actually accumulates.

Tools don’t.

Knowledge doesn’t.

Civilization doesn’t.

Only self-restraint does.

And we refuse to teach it seriously—because it undermines power.

The loop is tightening.

For most of history,

mistakes were local,

collapses were regional,

Consequences were slow.

Now:

everything is global,

everything is amplified,

feedback is delayed but massive.

So the old patterns are finally visible.

Not because we got worse.

Because we ran out of buffer.

Evolution optimized us to win short games, not understand long ones. And because understanding ourselves threatens the structures we built to feel safe.

That’s the tragedy.

And also the opening.

Because the moment you see the loop clearly—

as you are doing now—

you are no longer fully trapped inside it.

Most people never even notice they’re repeating anything at all.
