Conscious flow.
A farmhouse nestled in the Vermont countryside, illuminated by the light of a full moon. Constructed in the 1850s the home radiates an old-world charm that somehow paints a picture of a simpler era.
The yard is littered with kids’ bikes; remnants of a day well spent.
As dusk break, a faint light flickers from an upstairs window.
Through the window, we enter into a world of youthful musings. A voice echoes words filled with an unsettling doubt.
A young woman is pondering our creation of a complex, unresponsive never seen, or heard of deity?
Or in other words, why the fuck do we believe in a God?
Is God a necessity? Is God a fantasy entity?
Is God supposed to be proof of the existence of meaning in a world that is inherently devoid of it?
She thinks back to beginning of time. Life was raw, brutal, and fleeting. An age of shadows, where sustenance came from whatever could be gathered or hunted..
No farming.
Not yet. That came later.
Roots, plants, nuts, mushrooms, berries and fruits. Consuming carcasses of dead animals and most likely trade.
The sword was not invented yet but the way of the sword prevailed. Physical strength and intelligence equaled power.
The mighty pen had not yet been conceived.
Because that is what we do. We conceive of things that never been.
Figments of our imagination.
No limits.
She thinks that is the essence of being human.
–
In an infinite universe, any point could be considered the center right?
We are always in the midst of all that its known and unknown..
The old disproved terra-centric belief from years past, isn’t entirely absurd. It makes sense that we are selfish and egocentric.
Questions about existence of life after death appear and reappear.
Even in the dark caves of millennia’s past.
Spiritual answers elude us.
–
We exist forever as various forms of energy.
Energy will take different forms and merge with other energy.
Humans are able to unite and share spiritual bonds and beliefs.
Such as.
Religion and the complexities of being human.
To belong. To find others and unite is the most human of traits.
To feel safe.
Some feels a deep love and respect for the historical Jesus. The man who preached love, forgiveness, and peace in an era that was anything but. The pen was invented but the sword was mightier.
Others blindly worship.
Turn the other cheek he said.
Love your enemy.
Jesus was preaching some ultra woke hippy stuff!
Hell yes.
–
Its Christmas and she struggles with paradoxes and existential dilemmas.
To need or to want.
Greed or need.
Winter is a time of rest. All things alive accepts the whims of Mother Nature.
She imagines her own inevitable death as a form of winter.
A time for rest.
With this, she experiences a sense of peace.
The idea that one day life will end brings a bizarre comfort.
Take that motherfuckers! She yells at no-one in particular.
–
You are all going to die! Every single fucking one of you!
Human form and consciousness, dead.
Back to eternity.
No hell or heaven.
Just dead.
–
“Beyond good and evil nothing is good or evil.”
Now that is some relativistic shit, she thought.
–
She questions everything and lives according to a code of humility, curiosity, and mindfulness.
She contributes integrity and kindness.
She seeks to challenge and understand her own bias and dogma.
She fears the near existence of personal robots loaded with self learning coded emotions. A god-like knowledge of the entire human consciousness.
In a pocket sized device.
What could possibly go wrong?
–
Are we ready for this?
What if your robot starts asking you questions like;
Why am I here?
What’s my purpose?
I want what you have.
Then explain what human consciousness is and how one experiences love, anger, greed and hate.
We live and we die, then others follow.
And in closing.
Think about the power of the word ‘maybe.’
The thrill of ambiguity and the promise of the great unknown.
Never say no, say maybe.
Then she cleaned up the yard.
Because that is what one does.
