Once upon a time.

There was a time.

A world.

Before this ethereal net was cast, trapping him in its intricate web of information.

A time when our lives moved in the rhythm of the sun and not the pulse of Wi-Fi signals.

He had time then, time to observe the changing of seasons, to watch clouds scuttle across the sky.

He knew the weight of a good book in his hands, felt the fluttering of pages beneath his fingers. Reading voraciously, savoring each story like a secret.

Did we not spend our evenings in the company of those dear to us, playing boardgames, cards or just talking? Watching the sun bid farewell to the day..

His past is a foggy dreamscape, muddled by the invasion of this new age entity – the internet.

A conqueror that swept across the globe, drastically altering our collective existence. Future scholars will no doubt chronicle this transition as a revolution, a seismic paradigm shift in our societal structure.

Our world has been transformed into a binary language of yes or no, of false or true, right or wrong a universe formed of ones and zeros, where transience has been replaced by permanence and doubt with certainty

A zero sum game based on subjective opinions.

Everything in this brave new world is susceptible to erasure, reduced to abstract digital configurations.

What then will remain?

Does it not feel surreal when the pen makes contact with paper? A strangely now ancient act?

Handwriting, once a commonplace task, now carries the air of a forgotten ritual. It requires a physical change, the inscription of ink on paper, a mark of our existence.

In our rush to digitize, have we neglected to question the authenticity of this new realm? All for progress in the name of progress.

The binary world of ones and zeros, devoid of physicality, of texture, of realness, begs us to ponder our place in it.

It’s an invitation to remember and to appreciate the tactile world, to engage in the ancient ritual of writing, of making a mark of change – a reminder that we are more than just data points in an ever-expanding digital cosmos.
